Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and its influence on the psychomotor development of the children of early childhood
Azerbaijan Journal of Perinatology and Pediatrics

Abstract

Despite the achievement of modern perinatal medicine, hyperbilirubinemia takes a great part in the structure of the mortality in the early neonatal period. The urgency of this problem is on the unconjugated bilirubin’s ability to pass blood-brain barrier and development of central nervous system’s damage. This article describes the mechanisms of CNS’s damage, the clinic picture of chronic bilirubin intoxication, the prevention opportunities and the valuation by the Bayley III and Denver II screening tests.
