The features of heart rate variability in primary school children with type I diabetes mellitus.
Azerbaijan Journal of Perinatology and Pediatrics

Abstract

The aim was to study the characteristics of heart rate variability (HRV) in children of primary school agewith type I diabetes mellitus (TIDM). Materials and methods. The study involved 36 children aged 6-11 years with Type I DM. Patients were divided into 2 subgroups with SD duration: 1-3 years (A); 4 years or more (B). The control group consisted of 20 practically healthy children of the corresponding age. HRV indicators were determined for all children who participated in the study: SDNN, RMSSD, pNN50%, HF, LF, VLF, LF / HF index. Results. In children with type I diabetes mellitus in both groups, changes in HRV indicators were revealed: a decrease in SDNN, pNN50% in comparison with healthy children, an increase in HF in group A and a decrease in group B, and vice versa, a decrease in LF in group A, and an increase in group B. Thus, the determination of HRV parameters in children with TIDM, playing an important role in the early diagnosis of CAN, will allow in the future to prevent complications from the cardiovascular system.
