The VACTERL association is a congenital anomaly characterized by a combination of deve-lopmental defects.VACTERL is commonly characterized by defects in the spine, rectum, heart, trachea and esophagus, kidneys, and extremities. In the presence of at least three of these malfor-mations in newborns, it is diagnosed as an association VACTERL.VACTERL ASSOCIA-TION:V - Vertebral anomalies(spine), A - Anorectal malformations, C – Cardiovascular anomalies, T - Tracheoesophageal fistula, E - Esophageal atresia, R - Renal or radial anomalies: L -Malformations of the extremities.
