Characteristics of kidney blood flow in preterm newborns with ischemic nephropathy
Azerbaijan Journal of Perinatology and Pediatrics

Abstract

Purpose of the study: Doppler assessment of blood flow of segmental renal artery to diagnose ischemic nephropathy in preterm infants. For the purpose of this study, 72 preterm newborns have been involved in clinical Doppler examination (main group); the group has been divided into 3 semi-groups (A,Б, В) depending on the severity of ischemic nephropathy (I, II, III). The control group consisted of 34 healthy newborns. It was determined that 81.3 % of the newborns with the 3rd grade ischemic nephropathy had pathological type of infant blood flow in days 1-3; TAMX and VED were significantly lower (p<0.01), and RI was significantly higher (p<0.05) in comparison with control group. Thus, the development of IN in preterm newborns is observed also by a decreased renal blood flow and severity of IN is depended upon the level of hypoperfuzion.
