The diagnostic approach to differentiate the forms of neonatal immune thrombocytopenia

Abstract

Thrombocytopenia is very common in neonates. Conventional lists of the causes of thrombocytopenia include a large number of possible diagnoses. However, in routine clinical practice, it is more useful to be aware of common causes and patterns of thrombocytopenia. And in this article we have described the difference between two common forms of neonatal thrombocytopenia during the symptomatic period of clinic situation. We have showed the importance of investigation the results of clinical and laboratory parameters in neonates with thrombocytopenia. And in this clinical case we have put the diagnose to a newborn baby with hemorrhagic petechiae on all body surface with no other clinical signs of any other pathologic situation which helped us on diagnosing of “Neonatal hemorrhagic syndrome. Autoimmun thrombocytopenia”.
