The respiratory tract diseases, being one of the most frequent pathologies of childhood, occupies one of the first places in the structure of childhood diseases. The aim was to study changes in the cytokine system in young children with diseases of the respiratory system. Materials and methods. 79 children (both sexes) with respiratory diseases were involved in the study. Based on the diagnosis, the patients were divided into 3 groups: group I included 40 children with acute respiratory infections, group II - 12 children diagnosed with Bronchitis, group III - 10 children with other respiratory diseases (laryngotracheitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, pharyngitis). The control group consisted of 20 practically healthy children. Immunological parameters - IL-21, γ-İNF in blood serum were determined in all examined by the method of enzyme immunoassay on the Medispes-6000 apparatus using reagents of the İnvitrogen. Results. The IL-21 level in group I compared with the control group was 2,2times, in group II -3,4 times, in group III -3,0 times higher. The concentration of İNF-γ in the blood serum in group I was 1,9 times higher, in group II - 2,7 times, and in group III - 1,2times reduced compared with the control group. Conclusion. Based on the results obtained, it can be argued that İL-21 and İNF-γ have clinical and diagnostic value in young children with respiratory diseases.
