The aim of the work was to identify the adaptation period in newborn infants with low birth weight to improve their rehabilitation in postnatal adaptation. For this purpose, the features of the early neonatal period of 132 newborns that were born in the period of 37-41 weeks of pregnancy with a birth weight less than 2500 g were studied. The course of the early neonatal period in these children was characterized by a number of pathological syndromes and conditions: prolonged neonatal jaundice, low assessment on the Apgar scale, and later establishment of independent breastfeeding. Thus, the morphofunctional features of the organism of low birth weight newborns determine of the course of the early neonatal period, which is characterized by lower compensatory-adaptive responses.
