Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is decreased thyroid hormone production in a newborn. In very rare cases, no thyroid hormone is produced.
The clinical signs of CH in newborns are weak. The symptoms are gradually developing in 3-6 months. Diagnosis
The levels of thyroid hormones in the blood (TTH, T3, T4) are considered informative. The CH diagnosed on the basis of biochemical examinations, specific clinical symptoms. The baby's health condition is improved in the background of substitution therapy with Levothyroxine sodium preparations. The child was discharged from the hospital under the supervision of a pediatrician, endocrinologist and neurologist.
