Clinical features of COVID-19 infection in chidren
Azerbaijan Journal of Perinatology and Pediatrics

Abstract

The study showed the prognosis for children with SARS-CoV-2 was generally favorable. 61% of children had confirmed contact with infected mothers, and most of the infected newborns were hospitalized from home. The newborn disease was asymptomatic at 25% patients, while the rest had mildsymptoms typical for acute respiratory infections or gastrointestin al disorders.Pneumonia is the only symptom of COVID 19 in 27% of infants and preschool children. A remarkab-le feature of COVİD19 infection is the defeat of several important organs (lungs, kidneys, cardiovascular systems, blood circulation systems) and this group of children is a high risk group for the development of chronic pathology in the future.According to the authors, despite the mild flow of COVİD19 in children, the development of multiorgan disorders, the asymptomatic course of pneumonia and myocarditis at the beginning of the disease, the longterm sequencing of the virus into various bio
logical environments after the Mitigation of main symptoms of the disease, the outcomes of the disease and not certain complications, as well as in children with intra-family contact with patients COVID-19, require long term dynamic surveillance. For a more indepth understanding of the SARS CoV-2 flow characteristics of the infection in newborns, larger epidemiological and clinical cohort research is needed.
